Quarter Sawn Engineered Parquet Flooring

Project: Quarter Sawn Engineered Parquet Flooring

The quarter sawn parquet, Product Code E952, is a Herringbone parquet block is 90mm wide x 600mm long and 20mm thick with a solid oak top layer of 6mm. Quarter Sawn timber is the most stable and details of the cutting of logs can be seen here. Old timber galleons were made this way because the grain is straighter and will not cup like normal cross sawn boards

With quarter sawn oak floors you get the medullary rays and straight grain which is normally very close as most of the wood come from the centre of the tree with virtually no sapwood which is the young growth. The pictures shown here are of a floor fitted but also the blocks being tested when they are manufactured for accuracy. These parquet blocks are square edged and unfinished and can be finished with any Blanchon Solid’Oils or coloured oils to create a unique herringbone floor.
