Maintaining Walnut Flooring

The American Black Walnut flooring in this home had been in use for four weeks prior to oiling. As is expected, the under floor heating gradually dried the factory finish of Hard Wax Oil over this period. To rejuvenate the walnut flooring we first cleaned the floor with Blanchon Natural Soap. This was then finished off with Blanchon Solid’Oil Natural for added protection. This high quality natural wood oil deeply penetrates the walnut and gives a gentle well-oiled lustre to the floor. To apply, we simply used a short haired roller to spread the oil over an area in of the floor and then used a buffing machine with a beige buffing pad to work in the oil. Within one day the oil has hardened and can take light traffic.
